On April 29, 2020, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF), concluded an investigation which resulted in the apprehension of Demarcus Griffin, 20, of the 9200 block of South Kingston Avenue, Chicago.
Griffin was wanted on a $500,000.00 arrest warrant for four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, stemming from an incident on March 1, 2020, in the 39100 block of North Lewis Avenue, Beach Park. During that incident, Griffin shot at three people walking southbound on Lewis Avenue. Nobody was struck by the gunfire.
During the fugitive apprehension investigation, members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team learned Griffin was now living at an apartment in the 9200 block of South Kingston Avenue, Chicago. On April 29, 2020, members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team located Griffin inside his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm along with a 50-round drum magazine for the stolen firearm.
Griffin was transported to the Chicago Police Department regarding the new charges of possessing a stolen firearm. He is currently being held in the Cook County Jail on the new charges.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
