On May 23, 2016, at approximately 12:00PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to North Delany Road and Wadsworth Road, in Wadsworth, to a traffic crash with injuries. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located a 2014 Harley Davidson Motorcycle and 2005 Toyota Corolla, which were involved in a collision. The driver of the motorcycle suffered critical injuries.
Preliminary investigation, which included witness statements, revealed the driver of the Toyota was traveling southbound on Delany Road, through the intersection. The driver of the Harley Davidson was traveling westbound on Wadsworth Road, and disobeyed a red traffic signal. The Harley Davidson struck the Toyota in the intersection, which caused the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Condell Hospital with critical injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Vista East Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
