Lake County Departments Offer Various Relief Measures Due to COVID-19
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, several Lake County departments have announced relief measures, including deadline extensions and fee waivers, for various services. These include:
Hotel-Motel Tax (Hotel Operator’s Tax): The filing date for February, March, and April 2020 has been extended to July 1, 2020. No penalties or interest will be applied during this extension period. Questions? Call the Lake County Finance Department at 847-377-2929, or email [email protected].
Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT): Time-of-day work restrictions instituted by the LCDOT for all permit and construction projects taking place within the County right-of-way are suspended until April 30, 2020. Planning, Building and Development: Administrative adjudication hearings have been postponed. Previously imposed fines will be deferred or extended on a case by case basis upon written request. Public Defender: The fee for adoption of a Guardian ad litem client will be waived until July 1, 2020. Questions? Call 847-377-3360.
Public Works: Water shutoffs for Lake County Public Works water customers who are behind on their payments have been suspended. In addition, all late payment fees will be waived through April 30, 2020. Questions? Call 847-377-7500 or email [email protected].
Recorder of Deeds: The daily $5 subscription fee to use the Lake County Recorder of Deeds Land Records Search tool will be waived until July 1, 2020. Questions? Call 847-377-2575 or email [email protected].
Sheriff’s Office: Pursuant to Illinois Gov. JB Prtizker’s executive order, all residential eviction orders have been suspended for the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, which currently runs through April 30. Questions? Call 847-377-4000, or email [email protected].
