The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Cybercrimes Unit, along with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Cybercrimes Unit conducted an investigation into suspected child pornography. The investigation resulted in the issuance of a search warrant, which was executed in the 1600 block of Elm Avenue, Round Lake Beach, on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
John B. Cady, 54, who resides at the same address, was arrested following the investigation. Evidence was seized from his residence which included multiple electronic devices, capable of storing digital media.
A forensic examination of the media devices revealed numerous videos identified as child pornography, which included children under the age of 13.
Cady was subsequently charged with six counts of Possession of Child Pornography, each a Class 2 Felony. Each count carries a possible prison term of 3 to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Due to the amount of electronic media collected, additional digital forensics will be conducted and additional charges are possible.
Cady is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $100,000.00 bail. His next court date is scheduled for May 23, 2016 at 9:00AM, in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
