Summer is right around the corner and it is time for Lake County’s Summer Youth Employment Program once again. The program is funded by the Lake County Board and provides meaningful work experiences for 215 low-income middle and high school students. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 31 at 5 p.m.
The program will begin June 15 and last about six weeks. Participants will work approximately 25 hours per week.
To qualify, you must be:
- Age 14 to 18 (by April 15) OR age 14 to 22 with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Attending middle school or high school
- Receive free or reduced lunch OR meet low income guidelines
Applications can be picked up at the Waukegan Job Center, which is located on 1 N. Genesee St. in Waukegan, township offices or schools, or you can also print and fill out an application online. Applications will be randomly selected by a computer program. Check the Job Center website after April 15 to check the status of your application.
