[ARCHIVED] Unincorporated Lake Villa Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Traffic Crash

Two pedestrians were seriously injured in an unincorporated Lake Villa traffic crash on Monday evening.

On January 27, 2020, at approximately 7:40PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of West Engle Drive and North Wildwood Drive, unincorporated Lake Villa, for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash with injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a 45-year-old male pedestrian of unincorporated Lake Villa, and a 44-year-old female pedestrian of unincorporated Lake Villa with significant injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300, driven by a 19-year-old male of Round Lake Park, was traveling eastbound on Engle Drive in the area of Wildwood Drive.  As the Mercedes-Benz traveled eastbound, the two pedestrians ran from the north side of the roadway and crossed in a southern direction, directly in front of the Mercedes-Benz.  The front of the Mercedes-Benz struck both pedestrians.

The female pedestrian sustained broken bones and the male pedestrian sustained a head injury as well as other internal injuries.  Both were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
