On January 21, 2020, at approximately 11:40PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash with injuries on Kelsey Road in the area of Flint Creek Drive, Lake Barrington. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located two vehicles with extensive damage.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2004 Nissan Altima, driven by a 30-year-old female of Algonquin, was traveling southbound on Kelsey Road just north of Flint Creek Drive. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Nissan left the roadway and drove into a ditch on the west side of the road. The Nissan then struck a tree, causing the Nissan to roll onto its roof. The Nissan came to rest back in the roadway. The Nissan was then struck by a southbound 2002 Toyota Camry, driven by a 39-year-old male of Fox River Grove.
Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to free the 30-year-old from the Nissan in an effort to give her aid but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries and was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in unincorporated Barrington via ambulance.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is being scheduled on the driver of the Nissan.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
