The Lake County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement across the state for the 2019 holiday “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” traffic safety campaign. From December 16 through January 2, law-enforcement showed zero tolerance for impaired driving, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested six intoxicated motorists.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office also took the following enforcement actions: 47 seat belt citations, 19 speeding citations, and eight distracted driving citations for a total of 123 traffic citations.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “We cannot stress it enough: impaired driving is deadly and illegal behavior, it puts everyone on the roadway at risk. Our sheriff’s deputies work very hard to keep the roadways safe for all, but driving sober is everyone’s responsibility.”
The Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
