Sheriff’s Detectives arrested an Unincorporated Grayslake man after they found he burglarized his neighbor’s home. The burglary was captured on an indoor security camera which was previously installed by the homeowner.
On December 10, 2019, sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 18100 block of West Lindenwood Drive, Unincorporated Grayslake, for a report of a residential burglary. The burglar stole cash from the residence, along with an interior security camera. Even though the burglar stole the security camera, video of him committing the burglary had already been saved in the ‘cloud.’
Further investigation revealed the burglar, Carlos H. Zelaya, 32, also of the 18100 block of West Lindenwood Drive, was a neighbor of the victim.
On December 11, 2019, sheriff’s detectives arrested Zelaya at his residence. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a residential burglary (class 1 felony) charge.
Zelaya remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
