The Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group in collaboration with Zion Police Department concluded a narcotics investigation which resulted in the arrest of a Zion man and removal of over 60 grams of heroin.
The investigation, which lasted approximately one month, concluded this morning with a search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Galilee Avenue, Zion. Detectives recovered over 60 grams of heroin from the residence and subsequently arrested Andrew Q. Kaywon-Thomas, 37, a documented street gang member, of the same residence.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (class X felony) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (class 1 felony).
Kaywon-Thomas remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
