On October 11, 2019, at approximately 9:15AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash in the area of Route 60 and Blackhawk Trail, Fremont Township.  Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located a 2014 Dodge Journey approximately 100 feet off the roadway, north of Route 60.  The Dodge struck a tree before coming to a rest.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Dodge, a 74-year-old man of Adairville, Kentucky, was traveling westbound on Route 60.  For an unknown reason his vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a cornfield north of the roadway, then struck a tree.  The man was not wearing a seatbelt.  The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.  

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
