The Lake County Sheriff’s Office conducts alcohol compliance checks at Lake County liquor selling establishments.  The compliance checks are designed to ensure businesses vending alcohol are not selling to anyone under the age of 21.  

During August and September, of the 62 establishments tested, five of them sold alcohol to someone under the age of 21.

The businesses checked include those within the jurisdiction of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, or communities which contract with the Sheriff’s Office for policing services, not those within municipal city/village limits.  

The clerks in violation were ticketed for selling liquor to a minor.  They are required to appear in Waukegan court.  Notice of the violations were sent to their respective liquor commission jurisdictions (Wadsworth, Beach Park, Third Lake, and Lake County Liquor Commission).
