On October 2, 2019, at approximately 6:20AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to West Gages Lake Road and Almond Road, Gages Lake, for a car versus pedestrian traffic crash with injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found the pedestrian, a 45-year-old male without a permanent address, with serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2007 Dodge Pick-up Truck, driven by a 64-year-old male of Unincorporated Grayslake, was traveling westbound on Gages Lake Road, approaching Almond Road. As the driver traveled westbound, the pedestrian quickly ran from the north side of the roadway and stopped directly in the path of the Dodge. It appears the pedestrian intentionally ran in front of the vehicle in a self-harm attempt.
The pedestrian was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries and for a mental health evaluation. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
