On September 23, 2019, the Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group concluded a long-term investigation which resulted in the seizing of several ounces of cocaine and arrest of a drug dealer.
On several occasions, Diego A. Zuniga, 32, of the 1400 block of Lorelei, Zion, was observed by undercover detectives selling cocaine. The sales took place in Beach Park, Zion, and Kenosha. Zuniga was taken into custody on September 23rd, after the drug sale was witnessed in Zion. He was found to be in possession of a blunt-force object during his arrest, which he was prohibited from possessing, due to being a convicted felon.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges for Zuniga:
Delivery of Cocaine (Class X Felony)
Possession of Over 15 Grams of Cocaine (Class 1 Felony)
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony)
Additional charges are pending in Wisconsin and Lake County.
Zuniga remains held in the Lake County Jail on $250,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on October 17, 2019 at 10:30AM in courtroom T110.
