[ARCHIVED] Serious Unincorporated Antioch Hit-and-Run Crash

On September 20, 2019, at approximately 9:40PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 27900 block of West Wilmot Road, Unincorporated Antioch, for a traffic crash with injuries.  The 911 caller indicated one of the vehicle’s occupants was lying in the roadway.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located the passenger, a 38-year-old female of Silver Lake, WI, in the roadway.  She was subsequently transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.  Sheriff’s Deputies determined the driver fled from the scene.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2003 Kia Sorento, likely being driven by a 29-year-old male of Silver Lake, WI, was traveling westbound on Wilmot Road, approaching the Wisconsin boarder, when the driver failed to properly negotiate a curve in the roadway.  The vehicle drove off the roadway and struck a tree.  The driver then fled from the scene, leaving his injured passenger behind.

Sheriff’s Deputies on the scene obtained leads on the identity of the driver.  At approximately 11:00PM, Sheriff’s Deputies located the driver hiding in a garage in the 42300 block of Willow Street, Unincorporated Antioch.  The driver was subsequently transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries which he sustained in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are likely once the investigation concludes.
