Serious Unincorporated Cary Traffic Crash
(Issued March 1, 2019, 8:44AM)
On February 28, 2019 at approximately 10:50PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of West Fox River Road and West Short Street in unincorporated Cary, for a traffic crash with injuries.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a single-vehicle (2013 Toyota Highlander), which struck a tree. The Toyota sustained significant damage and the driver, a 57-year-old man of McHenry, was entrapped inside the vehicle.
Preliminary investigation shows the man was traveling eastbound on Fox River Road, when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Due to the serious damage, it took over an hour for the man to be extricated from the vehicle.
The man was flown via Flight for Life helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He remains in the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
