[ARCHIVED] Man Run Over by Pickup Truck During Argument in Unincorporated Spring Grove

On July 28, 2019, at approximately 1:40PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 38400 block of North 4th Avenue, Unincorporated Spring Grove, for a report of a person that was run over by a vehicle.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and located a 40-year-old man, of the 27900 block of West Rowe Avenue, Unincorporated Spring Grove, with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows the 40-year-old man, a 39-year-old man of the 38300 block of North 5th Avenue, Unincorporated Spring Grove, and the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Pickup Truck, a 22-year-old man of the 38400 block of North 4th Avenue, Unincorporated Spring Grove, were engaged in a verbal argument regarding a lawnmower.  The argument took place in the driveway/roadway area of the 22-year-old’s residence.

During the argument the 22-year-old began to drive away, pulling forward out of his driveway.  As he left the driveway, the 40-year-old man was struck by an ajar rear door of the pickup truck, which knocked the pedestrian to the ground.  The driver continued to drive forward and one of the rear tires of the pickup truck ran over the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.  He remains hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.  No charges have been filed at this time but are possible in the future.
