On July 18, 2019, at approximately 3:05PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 12900 block of Peacock Road, Beach Park, for a domestic battery in progress.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a 70-year-old man with multiple sharp-force injuries laying on the floor. Sheriff’s deputies administered aid to the victim before he was transported via ambulance to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan with critical injuries. The initial responding deputies quickly ascertained the man’s son, George W. Bryce, 21, of the same address, was responsible for causing the injuries to his father. He was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Further investigation revealed George Bryce and the victim were involved in a domestic-related incident, and during the incident George Bryce attacked the victim with a pair of garden shears.
The victim currently remains in critical condition at Vista East Medical Center.
Following the investigation, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges for George Bryce:
Attempt First Degree Murder
George Bryce remains held at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning. Additional charges are pending.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
