The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested two impaired drivers, made one drug arrest and issued 109 seatbelt citations during the recent Fourth of July ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ and ‘Click It or Ticket’ safety campaigns.
A total of 197 citations were issued during the campaign including the arrest of two fugitives.
Law-enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drunk and drugged drivers off the roadways and encourage seatbelt use.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “There is no place for drunk or drugged drivers on our roadways. While this traffic safety campaign is over, our Sheriff’s Deputies will continue remaining vigilant for those driving under the influence. We can’t stress it enough – driving requires one’s full attention – don’t drink, use drugs, or be distracted when operating a vehicle.”
The recent law enforcement effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
