Sheriff’s Detectives worked through the overnight hours and continued to investigate this incident.
The preliminary information gathered thus far indicates the 47-year-old female who sustained a gunshot wound was married to a 51-year-old male, who lived in the same residence. The two were involved in an argument and during the argument, the woman retrieved a firearm from an upstairs bedroom. The woman fired a shot at the man, which missed the man, but the round lodged into a wall.
The man and woman then struggled over the firearm at which time it discharged, and a round struck the woman.
The man has been cooperative throughout the investigation and he was released from custody during the overnight hours.
The investigation into the incident does continue, however, there is no threat to the community.
Long Grove Death Investigation (issued 7/1/19)
On July 1, 2019, at approximately 12:20PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 5400 block of North Tall Oaks Drive, Long Grove, for a report of someone that was shot. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a 47-year-old female deceased inside of a single-family residence.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives currently continue to investigate the incident. Sheriff’s Detectives are speaking with an individual who was present during the time of the incident. Sheriff’s Detectives and Evidence Technicians are processing the scene.
There is no threat to the community and this is an isolated incident confined to the inside of the residence.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office is on the scene and an autopsy is being scheduled.
