[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Long Grove Death Investigation

Sheriff’s Detectives worked through the overnight hours and continued to investigate this incident.

The preliminary information gathered thus far indicates the 47-year-old female who sustained a gunshot wound was married to a 51-year-old male, who lived in the same residence.  The two were involved in an argument and during the argument, the woman retrieved a firearm from an upstairs bedroom.  The woman fired a shot at the man, which missed the man, but the round lodged into a wall.

The man and woman then struggled over the firearm at which time it discharged, and a round struck the woman.

The man has been cooperative throughout the investigation and he was released from custody during the overnight hours.

The investigation into the incident does continue, however, there is no threat to the community.
