On Friday, April 22, 2016, Deputy Vincent Sciarrone was presented the Rising Shield Award at the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Training Conference and Installation Dinner. Deputy Sciarrone was selected from a state-wide pool of nominees as a Rising Shield recipient for his efforts to keep Lake County roadways safe through diligent DUI enforcement.
Deputy Sciarrone joined the Lake County Sheriff's Office in 2012, following 6 years of service with the Round Lake Beach Police Department. Sciarrone is certified as a Drug Recognition Expert, Evidence Technician and a Breath Analysis Operator. He also earned DUI Achievement Awards in 2014 and 2015.
Sheriff Curran stated, "We are proud of Deputy Sciarrone's efforts to reduce traffic accidents by taking drunk drivers off the roads. His actions protect the public and the drunk driver as well." Undersheriff Rose added, "Every death or injury caused by drunk or drugged driving is preventable. Congratulations to Deputy Sciarrone for his achievement and the potential lives that were saved by his actions."
