[ARCHIVED] Boil Order Notice Issued to Portions of Vernon Hills, Forest Haven and Mettawa Areas

Sections of the Vernon Hills water system lost pressure and or water service for about an hour on Tuesday, June 18. Water has been restored to this area, but the water pressure in portions of Vernon Hills, Forest Haven and Mettawa areas fell below IEPA acceptable levels. Because of this, Lake County Public Works has issued a boil order notice for these areas. Unfortunately, Public Works experienced some technical issues last night with its robocall system, and not all impacted customers received a call. Public Works is continuing to work to notify impacted customers through all available platforms.

Public Works is testing the drinking water to ensure the water quality has been fully restored. The boil order will be in effect until at least Thursday morning.

Residents affected by the boil order should use bottled water for any potential consumption such as drinking, cooking, washing fresh fruits/vegetables, handwashing and tooth brushing. Tap water can be used for personal hygiene, laundry and household cleaning. If bottled water is not available, the affected tap water should be boiled for three minutes, allowed to cool, and then used. Additional safety guidelines are located on the Lake County Health Department's website.

Those with any questions or concerns may call Lake County Public Works at 847-377-7500 or send an email to [email protected].
