[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian Sustains Critical Injuries After Being Struck by Vehicle

On May 29, 2019, at approximately 10:35PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of North Fairfield Road and West Schwerman Road, Fremont Township, for a report of an intoxicated person.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located an abandoned 2017 Honda Civic on the side of Fairfield Road.  They then located a female (later identified as a 27-year-old woman of Lake Zurich), who had been driving the Civic, hiding in a wooded area near the vehicle.  Sheriff’s Deputies began speaking with the female and she abruptly ran, running onto Fairfield Road.  Upon entering the roadway, she was struck by a southbound 1999 Honda Odyssey.

The female sustained critical injuries as a result of being struck by the vehicle.  She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.  The driver of the Honda Odyssey, a 35-year-old male of Round Lake Park, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
