The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce a sheriff’s deputy and a sheriff’s sergeant were honored by the Waukegan Exchange Club.

Sergeant Gianni Giamberduca was selected as ‘Command Officer of the Year’ and Deputy David McNichol was selected as ‘Deputy of the Year’ by the Waukegan Exchange Club during a ceremony held on May 14, 2019 at Bonnie Brook Golf Club in Waukegan.

Sergeant Giamberduca was nominated for his dedication and commitment leading the Special Investigations Group.  The group consists of 20 detectives and crime analysts, comprising law-enforcement from both the federal and local levels.  Sergeant Giamberduca focused the efforts of the group to aggressively seek and arrest drug pushers, gun traffickers, and human traffickers.

Deputy McNichol was nominated for his long-standing devotion to the Lake County community. Deputy McNichol makes it a priority to always go the extra-mile to help the underprivileged.  Additionally, he volunteers countless hours of his time and has raised thousands of dollars to promote Special Olympics, which helps those with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills, and success.

Sheriff John Idleburg said. “We are very proud of Gianni and Dave.  These two dedicated professionals exemplify everything the community desires in a sheriff’s employee.  Gianni and Dave are committed to serving the community and both are leaders within the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.”
