[ARCHIVED] Join us at the "Ending the Silence" event on May 9

On May 9, Lake County System of Care for Families is shedding light on mental health conditions among youth, by hosting two a free public events titled “Ending the Silence,” presented by National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Lake County.

Youth, caregivers, and adults working with youth are invited to attend a FREE public presentation to learn that:

  • Knowledge is power. Recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness.
  • Mental health and physical health are equally important. Obtain tools to live a happy and healthy life.
  • Recovery is possible. Youth—hear about the journey from a first-hand perspective. Adults— learn ways to support your family and yourself.

The event will feature a presentation geared towards youth, as well as separate presentations in English and Spanish for adults. Attendees will also be asked to vote for their favorite youth mental health poster designed by local high school students. At the end of the event, the poster contest winner will be announced.

The event will take place . at the Lake County Health Department, 3010 Grand Avenue, Waukegan. Presentations will take place at the following locations:

  • Youth*: 1st fl. Grand Room
  • Adults – English: 2nd fl. Board Room
  • Adults – Spanish: 3rd fl. Board Room
    *Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children under 13 years old.
