Sheriff John Idleburg is pleased to announce this year’s Prescription Drug Takeback Day has increased the number of drop-off locations from three to seven.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Rosalind Franklin University, Illinois Representative Sam Yingling, and our township/municipal partners opened seven drop-off locations for the event.
The drop-off sites will be open on April 27, 2019 from 10:00AM until 2:00PM. Expired solid prescription drugs, unwanted or unused prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and pills, as well as controlled and non-controlled substances will be accepted. Injectable drugs and syringes can’t be accepted.
“Providing communities with safe ways to dispose of their medication can help prevent those medications from finding their way into the wrong hands,” said Yingling. “I am committed to doing everything in my power to be a part of the solution when it comes to solving this epidemic.”
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “I am very excited every corner of Lake County will have a drop-off location available to the community. I encourage everyone with old, unused drugs to take advantage of the convenience of having a nearby drop-off site. These drugs will be properly disposed of, won’t end up in our landfills, waterways, or other places they don’t belong.”
