On April 3, 2019, the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force concluded an undercover operation which resulted in the arrest of Kevaughn D. Bridges-Butler, 19, of the 100 block of Philippa Street, Waukegan.
On several occasions, Bridges-Butler sold heroin to an undercover Gang Task Force Detective, two of those sales occurred within 500 feet of a Waukegan school, while school was in session. Following a sale on April 3, 2019, Bridges-Butler was taken into custody without incident.
He was subsequently charged with:
Two Counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Class X Felonies)
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Class 1 Felony)
Four Counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felonies)
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “Selling drugs is bad enough, selling them near a school is downright revolting. Here is another example of someone who hasn’t been paying attention to our numerous warnings – if you sell drugs in Lake County, we will find you and we will arrest you.”
Bridges-Butler remains held at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning.
Sheriff Idleburg reminds the public all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
