[ARCHIVED] Missing Juvenile Located, Man Arrested for Sexually Abusing Her

Dunson

On March 20, 2019, at approximately 6:15AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 34000 block of North Jenna Lane, Warren Township, for a report of a missing juvenile.  First-Responding Sheriff’s Deputies conducted an expeditious investigation and located the missing 14-year-old girl at a motel in the 31200 block of North Route 45, Fremont Township.

Further investigation revealed the juvenile was at the motel with Vincent A. Dunson Jr., 22, of the 3200 block of West Thomas Street, Chicago.  Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene and conducted further investigation.  It was determined Dunson picked the juvenile up from her home and drove her to the motel, where he engaged in acts of sexual penetration with the juvenile.

Upon being located by Sheriff’s Deputies, the juvenile was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and reunited with her family.

Dunson was arrested and subsequently charged with three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felonies), and Traveling to Meet a Minor (Class 3 Felony).  He remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning.

Sheriff John Idleburg said, “Preying on our most vulnerable is one of the most horrific acts one could do.  I am thankful our Highway Patrol Deputies located her so quickly and our Detectives conducted extensive follow-up to determine what occurred.”

Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
