On April 16, 2016, at approximately 12:30AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 25400 block of West Hilldale Avenue, Antioch Township, for a report of a person shot. Deputies arrived at the residence and learned the shooting occurred during a domestic related dispute.
Deputies determined during a verbal argument, Vickie V. Orsini-Harvey, 54, of the same address, struck the victim with a metal pipe. Orsini-Harvey then left the room to retrieve a handgun. Orsini-Harvey fired the handgun inside the residence, which initially only caused property damage to the residence. Orsini-Harvey then fired a second shot, which struck the victim in the hand.
The victim was able to dial 911, and sheriff’s deputies responded and secured the scene. The victim was transported to Condell Hospital, where he was treated and released. Orsini-Harvey was transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, where detectives were able to speak with her. During the conversation with detectives, Orsini-Harvey admitted her role in the shooting.
Orsini-Harvey was subsequently charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony), Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony), Aggravated Domestic Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 2 Felony), and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony). Orsini-Harvey is being held at the Lake County Jail on $500,000.00 bail. She is next due in court on May 10, 2016, at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
