During the St. Patrick’s weekend traffic safety campaign, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested seven people for driving with revoked or suspended driver’s licenses, issued 30 citations for speeding, and issued 52 seat belt citations.
Sheriff John Idleburg said, “I am very pleased our Deputies working this detail didn’t have to arrest anyone for driving under the influence. This shows many heeded the warnings of not getting behind the wheel intoxicated. The reason we are out there enforcing these laws is simple – we want to save lives.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign.
The law enforcement campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
