[ARCHIVED] Update: Serious Lake Villa Twp Traffic Crash

Eggleston

Following a thorough investigation by Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators, it was determined the driver of the vehicle, Alden R. Eggleston, (now 44 years-of-age), of the 100 block of Vassallo Lane, Union Grove, WI, was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.  Investigators determined his blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.

On February 21, 2019, crash investigators obtained an arrest warrant for two counts of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (Class A Misdemeanors).  On March 8, 2019, Eggleston surrendered himself to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Eggleston was processed, posted bond (10% of $10,000.00), and was released from custody pending a return court date of April 10, 2019 at 9:00AM in courtroom C404.

Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Serious Lake Villa Township Traffic Crash (issued: 10/13/18)

On October 13, 2018, at approximately 1:15AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 39200 block of Route 45, Lake Villa Township, for a traffic crash with injuries.  Deputies arrived and located a 2003 Dodge Caravan with extensive damage and an ejected occupant.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver, a 43-year-old man, of Union Grove, Wisconsin, was traveling southbound on Route 45 north of West Grass Lake Road.  For an unknown reason the driver crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic, drove off the east side of the roadway, and into a ditch.  The Dodge rolled over and the driver was ejected.

The driver was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and crash investigators are working to determine if alcohol was a factor.
