On April 6, 2016, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 10500 block of Marc Court, Beach Park, for a reported residential burglary. Deputies arrived and found entry had been forced to the residence through a rear door and window. Electronics and jewelry were stolen during the burglary. Lake County Sheriff’s Evidence Technicians processed the crime scene and canvassed the neighborhood. Through their neighborhood canvass, sheriff’s deputies were able to identify a possible vehicle involved in the burglary. Information about the vehicle was disseminated to all Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies.
On April 7, 2016, an alert sheriff’s deputy on patrol observed a vehicle in the area of the burglary that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the burglary. The sheriff’s deputy conducted an investigative traffic stop on the vehicle, and located items in the vehicle which had been stolen during the residential burglary. All five occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
The vehicle’s occupants were interviewed by Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives, where several admitted to their involvement in the residential burglary.
The following individuals were subsequently charged:
Chanybien McMillon, 20, of the 2300 block of North Jackson Street, Waukegan, charged with Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony) and Criminal Damage to Property (Class 4 Felony)
Javonatee W. Friar, 18, of the 1300 block of Joanna Avenue, Zion, charged with Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony) and Criminal Damage to Property (Class 4 Felony)
A 17-year-old male juvenile – Petitioned to Juvenile Court on Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony) and Criminal Damage to Property (Class 4 Felony)
A 15-year-old male juvenile – Petitioned to Juvenile Court on Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony), Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony), and Criminal Damage to Property (Class 4 Felony)
Both of the juveniles were transported to the Hulse Juvenile Detention Center pending a juvenile detention hearing. Friar and McMillon are being held in the Lake County Jail on $30,000.00 bail. Friar and McMillon will appear next in court on April 12, 2016 at 1:30PM in Courtroom C-120.
