On January 2, 2019, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Deontre A. Daniels, 27, of the 900 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Waukegan.
Daniels had an active $1,000,000.00 Lake County Warrant for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Battery. The warrant stemmed from a November North Chicago Police investigation, where Daniels was involved in a fight in the 0-100 block of Prairie View Court, North Chicago. During the fight Daniels shot a man and fled, as North Chicago Police Officers arrived.
On January 2, 2019, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team established surveillance at Daniel’s residence, where they observed him inside. Warrants Deputies approached the front door and were required to force entry to the home, as Daniels retreated to the basement. Warrants Deputies entered the basement, where there were several aggressive dogs guarding a cabinet. Deputies were able to maneuver around the dogs, and located Daniels hiding inside of the cabinet.
Daniels was arrested without further incident and transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
