What is the Board of Review?The mission of the Board of Review is to act as an unbiased intermediary between assessors and taxpayers. The Board undertakes an important role in striving for equitable and fair property assessments in Lake County through the assessment appeal process.
What are the responsibilities of a Board of Review Hearing Officer?The Board of Review hearing officers listen to testimony on written appeals on any real estate parcel that is claimed to be over-assessed or under-assessed. The Board reviews the assessment and either deems it to be just or corrects it as necessary.
What experience do I need?Candidates should have experience in real estate and have passed a qualifying exam provided by the Illinois Department of Revenue.
What is the level of commitment?Hearing officers are needed during September through December 2019. hearings are scheduled daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Waukegan. Scheduling is flexible depending on the officer's availability.Is this a paid position?Yes.
If I want to take the exam what do I need to do?Candidates interested in taking the exam must register with Cindy Crawford at email@example.com on or before 10 AM the day prior to the exam (March 26). You will also be required to complete the PTAX-299 Application.
