[ARCHIVED] Sergeant Karen Serzynski Promoted to Deputy Chief

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Karen Serzynski to the rank of Deputy Chief.

Sheriff John Idleburg said, “Deputy Chief Karen Serzynski’s promotion will take effect on Saturday, January 5th.  I’ve been impressed with Karen’s skillset, aptitude, and dedication to the Lake County community.  Karen has a proven track record and I have the utmost confidence her contribution in the role of Deputy Chief will positively impact the Sheriff’s Office and the community.”

Karen joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 2005, after serving as a Deerfield Police Officer.  She served as a Deputy Sheriff in the Court Security Division, Highway Patrol Division, and Criminal Investigations Division.  

Karen was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and served as a commanding officer in the Administration Division, Community Services Division, Highway Patrol Division, and Court Security Division.

Karen has a received numerous commendations and awards throughout her career.  She is known throughout Lake County for her achievements as a juvenile officer and work as an Internet Crimes Against Children investigator.  

Karen will be assigned as Deputy Chief of the Court Security Division – the first female Deputy Chief at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office - where she will utilize her skills in supervising over 65 employees, continue building relationships with the Judges and employees of the 19th Judicial Circuit, other Lake County Departments, and ensuring our Judicial facilities are kept safe.
