On December 16, 2018, at approximately 10:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 41 and Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, for a traffic crash with injuries.  When Deputies arrived, they found a car versus semi-truck crash with major damage.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2012 Freightliner Tractor/Trailer, driven by a 46-year-old man of Alger, Ohio, was northbound on Route 41.  The driver of the Freightliner stopped at a red light at Wadsworth Road.  When the light turned green, the driver of the Freightliner started to accelerate and was struck in the rear by a northbound 2005 Chrysler 300 (positive driver identification pending).  According to a witness, the Chrysler was traveling at a high-rate of speed just prior to the crash.

The driver of the Chrysler was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is scheduled for later today.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
