[ARCHIVED] Fatal Ingleside Traffic Crash

On December 15, 2018, at approximately 12:10AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash in the area of Route 134 and North Robin Road, Ingleside.  Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found two vehicles with major damage.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2002 Acura TL, driven by a 23-year-old man of Ingleside, was traveling westbound on Route 134, just east of Robin Road.  A 2000 Buick Century, driven by a 72-year-old man of Round Lake, was traveling eastbound in the same area.  For an unknown reason, the Acura TL entered the eastbound lanes of traffic and struck the Buick Century head-on.

The driver of the Acura was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Preliminary information suggests he was not wearing a seatbelt.  The driver of the Buick sustained minor injuries.  The only passenger in the Buick, a 72-year-old woman of Round Lake, sustained critical injuries.  Both the driver and the passenger in the Buick were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center via ambulance.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.  At this time, the Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for the driver of the Acura on Monday.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
