The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting extra traffic safety patrols during the Thanksgiving travel week beginning November 16 to November 26, 2018. Funding for this traffic safety campaign is made possible through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Administration and is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Sheriff Mark Curran stated, “Thanksgiving Eve is fast becoming one of the biggest drinking days of the year. We urge those who intend to drink on Thanksgiving Eve or any other day, to arrange for a designated driver or other means to get home safely. We want everyone to make it to the table on Thanksgiving Day. Extra sheriff’s deputies will be on the roads to ensure motorists arrive safely to their destination.”
Remember, Thanksgiving can be one of the deadliest times on roadways because of impaired and/or distracted drivers, speeders and seat belt violators. Do not risk losing your license, your car, and your freedom. If you drive impaired, law enforcement is going to arrest you.
End of Release.
