The Lake County Sheriff's Office Cybercrimes Unit along with the Lake County State's Attorney's Cybercrimes Unit conducted an investigation into suspected child pornography.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant executed at a residence in the 2300 block of 23rd Street in North Chicago on Monday, April 4, 2016.

Preston D. Brown, 47, who resides at the same address, was arrested following the investigation. Evidence was seized from his residence which included multiple electronic devices capable of storing digital media.

A forensic examination of the media devices revealed numerous videos identified as child pornography, which involved children under the age of 13.

Brown was subsequently charged with eight counts of Possession of Child Pornography, each a Class 2 Felony. Each count carries a possible prison term of 3 to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Brown is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $100,000.00 bail. His next court date is scheduled for April 28, 2016 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
