On July 24, 2018, at approximately 2:45PM, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a pharmacy in the 34300 block of North Route 45, Third Lake, for a report of someone attempting to fraudulently acquire a prescription. The Sheriff’s Deputy arrived and arrested Salvador A. Leo, 25, of the 0-100 block of Arlington Drive, Romeoville, for presenting a fraudulent prescription for a controlled substance.
The Sheriff’s Deputy handcuffed Leo and placed him in the back of a squad car. As the Sheriff’s Deputy returned to the store to speak to the pharmacist, Leo escaped from the squad car. Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Gurnee Police Department, Grayslake Police Department, and CLC Police Department established a perimeter around the area. While Sheriff’s Deputies were searching for Leo, a resident from the neighborhood to the west of the pharmacy called to report he saw someone matching Leo’s description.
Sheriff’s Deputies located Leo near the front of a residence on Seafarer Lane, Third Lake. As Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to apprehend Leo he fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, Leo was apprehended without further incident.
Leo was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was subsequently charged with:
Escape (Class 2 Felony)
Unlawful Possession of a Fraudulent Prescription (Class 4 Felony)
Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor)
Leo will appear in court this morning in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
