On July 11, 2018, at approximately 2:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of North Kilbourne Road and Route 173, Newport Township.  Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene and found a motorcycle was involved in the crash.

Preliminary investigation shows a 1999 Yamaha Motorcycle, driven by a male adult (positive identification pending), was traveling southbound on Kilbourne Road, approaching Route 173.  A 2008 Jeep Compass, driven by a 69-year-old female of Gurnee was traveling northbound on Kilbourne Road, also approaching Route 173.  The driver of the Jeep made a left turn at the intersection, in front of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle collided with the vehicle and the driver of the motorcycle was ejected.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Jeep was uninjured.

The intersection of North Kilbourne Road and Route 173 will be closed for the next 2-3 hours while the crash investigation takes place.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
