[ARCHIVED] Florida Man Wanted for Manslaughter Apprehended by Sheriff’s Warrants Team in Wauconda Twp

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) apprehended Bernard Mullen, 51, of the 5300 block of Ruby Lane, Sarasota, Florida.

Mullen was wanted on a nationwide arrest warrant for Manslaughter and Selling/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl).  The warrant was issued in Sarasota County, Florida, following a death investigation conducted by the Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office in July of 2017.  The arrest warrant was issued on June 22, 2018.

U.S. Marshals – Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (Tampa Office) developed information suggesting Mullen was in the Wauconda area at the residence of one of his family members.  Florida Marshals officials contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team on June 28, 2018, with the information.  The same day, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and USMS-GLRFTF conducted surveillance at a residence in the 26100 block of North Hill Avenue, Wauconda Township.

Members of the Warrants Team observed Mullen sitting on the front steps of the residence and arrested him without incident.  He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held without bail pending extradition hearings.

Mullen is due in court on July 3, 2018, at 9:00AM in courtroom C-120.

Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
