On June 7, 2018, at approximately 5:30AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 6500 block of Stockbridge Lane, Long Grove, for a domestic disturbance. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a 33 year-old man, reported to be in mental crisis, in a heated argument with family members. The man exited the residence and quickly reentered. Upon reentering, he removed a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband, ran out of the house and entered a vehicle. He fled from the scene, in the vehicle, at a high rate of speed. A brief pursuit took place, before being terminated, due to the extremely erratic driving and excessive speed of the man.
The man drove to a business in the 400 block of Washington Boulevard in Mundelein. Sheriff’s Deputies took the man into custody at the location. He was transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation. Sheriff’s deputies will speak with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding possible charges.
Sheriff Mark Curran said, “This was a very tense situation where our sheriff’s deputies utilized their Crisis Intervention Team techniques to take this man into custody and transport him to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation. This incident could have ended much differently if it weren’t for the high-level of training of our personnel.”
