On June 4, 2018, at approximately 6:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 5 Star Firearms, located in Benton Township, for a suspicious circumstance report. Employees called the Sheriff’s Office after an individual came into their store attempting to purchase a firearm and identified himself as a police officer, while presenting a badge. The employees had doubts of his police officer status and contacted authorities.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded and confirmed Marquise C. Lewis, 21, of the 2700 block of Hebron Avenue, Zion, was not a police officer. He was subsequently arrested for False Personation of a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony) and transported to the Lake County Jail.
Lewis appeared in court this morning and was released on a $25,000.00 Recognizance Bond. He is again due to appear in court on July 11, 2018, at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
