Sheriff Curran stated, “Memorial Day weekend kicked off the summer travel season and our priority was to ensure that everyone arrived at their destination safely. The Memorial Day Campaign may be over, but our efforts to ensure public safety will continue throughout the year.”
As part of the national Click It or Ticket mobilization, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with law enforcement agencies across the country to target motorists not wearing their seatbelts. The high visibility enforcement campaign was timed to begin with increased travel for the Memorial Day weekend.
Funding for this traffic safety campaign was made possible through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Administration, and was administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
