On May 9, 2018, the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force, along with partner agency, U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations, concluded an investigation into an individual illegally acquiring Tramadol, a Schedule IV prescription medication.
During the course of the investigation it was learned Randall T. Swansen, 41, of the 0-100 block of Foxtail Road, Hawthorn Woods, was illegally acquiring the drug utilizing the internet. Overseas companies were mailing Swansen packages of Tramadol tablets.
On May 9th, a search warrant was conducted at Swansen’s residence which revealed he was in possession of over 700 Tramadol tablets. Swansen was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony).
Since May 9th, members of the Sheriff’s Gang Task Force have intercepted additional packages containing over 2,100 tablets of Tramadol.
Swansen was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10% of his $20,000.00 bail.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
