[ARCHIVED] Four Corrections Officers Promoted to Sergeant

Sheriff Mark C. Curran Jr. is pleased to announce the promotion of Corrections Officers Jennifer Buckingham, Kimberly Crittendon, Scott Miller, and Anthony Urbancic to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Jennifer Buckingham began her career in the Corrections Division in 2001 and graduated correctional officer training in 2001. She completed the Dynamics and Principles of Direct Supervision in 2002. She grew up in Lake County and attended College of Lake County. Sergeant Buckingham was a student athlete participating in basketball, soccer and softball. Prior to joining the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Buckingham was a firefighter/paramedic.

Sergeant Kimberly Crittendon began her career in the Corrections Division in 1990 and graduated correctional officer training in 1990. She completed the Dynamics and Principles of Direct Supervision in 1991. Sergeant Crittendon grew up in the Upper Peninsula. She held positions including booking, bullpen, reception, pod and classification officer. Sergeant Crittendon is also a certified gang intelligence officer. She has participated in the hiring process with the physical agility testing and is a member of the Recruitment Team.

Sergeant Scott Miller began his career in the Corrections Division in 2012 and graduated correctional officer training in 2012. He completed the Dynamics and Principles of Direct Supervision in 2013. Scott joined the Correctional Response Team in 2013. He became a firearms instructor and was selected to become a field training officer. Over the past 6 years, Sergeant Miller has trained several current staff members on firearms safety and first aid. He is also a graduate from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.

Sergeant Anthony Urbancic began his career in the Corrections Division in 1997 and graduated correctional officer training in 1998. He completed the Dynamics and Principles of Direct Supervision in 1998. Sergeant Urbancic held positions including central control, external transport, booking and classification officer. Sergeant Urbancic is second generation law enforcement, giving him a strong work ethic and commitment to public service.

The promoted officers successfully completed the sergeant’s exam and interview process. Corrections Officers must be employed a minimum of two years before they can take the exam.

A promotion ceremony was held on Thursday, April 5, 2018.
