On March 26, 2018, Lake County Sheriff’s Corrections Officers and Medical Staff saved the life of a woman suffering an opioid overdose in the intake area of the Lake County Jail.
At approximately 3:55 PM, Lake County Jail staff were booking a 30-year old female into the jail who had just been remanded on various drug charges. During routine booking procedures, the female became unconscious and stopped responding to Corrections Officers and Medical Staff. Those on the scene quickly determined this female was likely suffering an opioid overdose and needed immediate medical attention.
Medical Staff administered two doses of Naloxone to the female, which caused her to regain normal breathing and eventually regain consciousness. The female admitted to using heroin. She was transported to Vista East Medical Center by Waukegan Fire/Rescue for evaluation.
