On March 27, 2018 at approximately 5:56 AM the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatality involving a pedestrian and a train at Taylor St and Route 14 in unincorporated Barrington.

Witnesses observed an adult male walk onto the train tracks and stand in front of an approaching southbound Metra train.

The engineer was unable to stop the train. The train struck the male who was pronounced deceased.

The incident remains under investigation through the Technical Crash Investigations Team and Lake County Coroner’s Office in cooperation with Union Pacific Railroad and Metra.
