On March 19, 2018, at approximately 10:40 AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Route 137 and Center Street in unincorporated Libertyville for a traffic crash with injuries. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located a vehicle with extensive damage from a semi-truck hitting it from behind.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2000 Mack semi-truck pulling a gravel hauler was traveling westbound Route 137 when it struck a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer stopped on westbound Route 137 at Center Street.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
